who is lulu?

Lulu IS short for Luisa - NAME MEANING: famous warrior.

I once had a writer create a bio for me. She interviewed me, took notes and later wrote;

”Lush green mountains surrounding Hong Kong’s concrete jungle, the calm with the storm. Luisa describes her life so far as a lasting engagement with duality, balanced between creative expression and an insatiable lust for culturally inspiring work and travel.”

It was spot on.

The God-lit mountains of Los Angeles and the grit of Venice beach, the intensity of New York and it’s soul that sucks you in like a twin flame. The familiarity of London, and the anonymity amongst the melting pot. This duality has always attracted me to places, but it is this same duality that attracts me to people too.

If you’d like the ‘short version’ of my bio - return to my homepage. If not….

As much as I loved it in my past career when the vision of a trend or brand appeared in my realm of possibility, I feel that same excitement when the vision of human potential comes alive meeting a new client. Along the way I discovered I have a head for strategic thinking, but I also have a heart for the “woo woo” ways of finding your magic.

I am free-spirited, sensitive, curious, kind-hearted, deeply spiritual and a little quirky. I love the intersection of science and spirituality, art and philosophy, and I am passionate about social impact and philanthropy. I’m also a professional tea drinker, (sober) but I am pro plant medicines and the place they have in our world today. For want of a better word, one might call me a “hippie” at heart so it bemuses me that my name “Luisa” means famous warrior.

(Why ‘Lulu’ you ask? It simply feels lighter right now…)

Just like there would be no darkness without light, no good without bad, soft without strong, feminine without masculine, being without doing, even no moon without the sun. The Yin holds a little Yang, the Yang holds a little Yin. I don’t believe we have to be one or the other, we can, and we are “all” of what we desire to be and when we embrace all that we are, we thrive. At some point, I got sick of presenting one way and living another and honestly, I am still figuring out how to roll it into one! The point is, there are many layers to all of us and I hope in this revelatory moment that perhaps you might resonate with something I have said and find the courage to be all of you too.

Reverting to the facts: I support my clients with a blend of science, spirituality, mindset work and healing. I am a certified Transformational Life Coach, Neuro-linguistic programming, Hypnotherapy and Time Line Therapy™ practitioner, Trauma & Trigger Therapy™ and Integrated Somatic Trauma Therapy practitioner, meditation, 200hr Yoga teacher, E.F.T and Reiki 2 energy healer.

Born and raised in Sydney Australia, in my early twenties, I graduated with a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications, and promptly left to explore the world. Over the next 2 decades I lived in Hong Kong, London, New York and Los Angeles, working in creative direction, product development, brand strategy, publishing and philanthropy. Curious?

I moved countries 9 times in 14 years, had businesses, worked and partied hard, had an eyewear collection stolen at gunpoint, ran a 250km ultra marathon, published an art-history biography and then… changed industries at the peak of my career. Over those years I became a master in setting goals, and even better at pushing my limits into unhealthy extremes.

I understand what it feels like to be disconnected from yourself, overwhelmed and burnt out. I was all GO and no flow and I had to find a way to course-correct. But my course correction was more of a journey of remembering, rediscovering, and “re-skinning” over a few years, that allowed me to shape-shift into a place of authenticity, aligning my passions, love and purpose… Eat Pray Love, eat your heart out.

If that’s enough, feel free to stop reading here. If you want the adventure…

It’s hard to say when my journey started but I can certainly join the dots. Perhaps it started with being bullied in primary and high school, toxic teen romances, experiencing severe shaming and disconnection within my family, or ending up at boarding school and learning how to love, from afar. Or maybe it began at seventeen when I discovered yoga, or learnt Vedic meditation or with the various coaches I saw along the way to my 30’s. Another ‘dot’ for when I had stress related cortisol burnout and had to learn ‘cycle syncing’ to re-balance my hormones. And let’s not talk about moving countries so many times.

But the real adventure, the ‘inward journey,’ truly started when I moved to Los Angeles and gave myself time and space to focus on ME. An 'Aha' moment deep in the Amazon jungle, an eye-opener at Burning Man, a reset at Landmark, a spiritual re-birth studying Kabbalah, choosing to go sober, (for my endocrine health, boredom with HK style binge drinking and to support my younger sister in her Ovarian cancer journey), completing 200hr intensive yoga teacher training and discovering philosophy. At the same time, I ventured into the world of philanthropy and discovered new skills, likeminded people, inspiration and true purpose - and the gifts of giving back.

Modus operandi, seeking a worldview at 39, I travelled the globe, solo, for 9-months, devouring books on psychology and spirituality, exploring healing modalities including Holotropic breath work, plant medicines, primal movement, and feminine embodiment work. At some point, my Dark Night of the Soul formally announced itself with chronic digestive issues, a burst stomach ulcer, acute depression, and a C-PTSD diagnosis, inviting me to go much deeper.

The daughter of a pharmacist, I refused medication. It was time to “do the work” as they say in L.A.

Determined and ever curious, I engaged in psychotherapy, inner-child, shadow work, codependency recovery, 12-step programs, worked with Shamans and other energy healers before experiencing life-changing Richards Trauma Process PTSD therapy, and the rapid and powerful effects of Time Line Therapy and Hypnotherapy.

Press eject. Whole person reappears.

By “doing the work,” I was able to re-connect to my heart, heal my trauma, clear limiting beliefs, empower myself, align my passion with purpose that lit me up!  But, it doesn’t have to be that hard or take that long!

So inspired, I took it full circle and studied what worked for me; The Science of Energy and Intuition and Transformational Life Coaching at South Western Institute of Healing Arts in Arizona, before going on to study all the other modalities I mentioned above.

You want a coach who has done this before, and can help you see a way forward. This is who I am, and this is why I wake up everyday - to see my clients have their own “Ahaa moments” and turn their lives around. I work with entrepreneurs, CEOs, creatives, mama’s, academics and hippies alike who are ready for the next level.
